When manufacturers of premium and luxury cars declare their commitment to the highest quality standards, this is not an empty advertising Declaration, and the key to the best performance of products, including the highest level of safety. And it was Porsche's dissatisfaction with this level that led to the recall of several models at once.
As informs Federal Agency on technical regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart), the voluntary recall are 138 cars Porsche Cayman / Boxster (type 981) Porsche Cayman 718 / 718 Boxster (type 982), Porsche Panamera (type 970) Porsche 911 (type 991), implemented from July 2015 to may 2017, with the VIN-codes according to the applications at the links above.
The reason for the recall is the probability that the listed vehicles have an Airbag control unit with a power supply capacitor that does not meet Porsche's high quality standards. It is not currently possible to diagnose the condition of the capacitor, and in the event of a malfunction, a warning message may not be displayed on the instrument cluster display. A faulty capacitor may cause unintended activation of airbags and/or seatbelt pre-tensioners, or may prevent their activation in the event of a traffic accident.
The Airbag control unit software will be updated on the vehicles provided for inspection and repair to enable the detection of a faulty capacitor during diagnosis and the timely activation of the airbag warning indicator. All work will be carried out free of charge for the owners.
The authorized representatives of the manufacturers of Porsche Russland LLC will inform the owners of cars subject to the recall by sending letters and/or by phone about the need to provide the car to a convenient dealership for repair work.
At the same time, owners can independently, without waiting for the message of the authorized dealer, determine whether their car falls under the recall. To do this, it is necessary to compare its VIN-code with the attached list, contact the dealership and agree on the time of visit.
