This is perhaps a Frank and unambiguous bid for a record: Chinese startup Byton showed in Frankfurt the production version of its model M-Byte, which received probably the largest display in the world. And he's in the cabin of electrocreaser not alone.
The 48-inch monitor extends from one windshield pillar to the other and is mounted practically at the junction of the glass and the front panel – that is, quite far from the driver and passenger. Thus, Byton was able to solve the problem of visibility, but in order to facilitate the inhabitants of M-Byte management, the Chinese had to provide two more monitors.
Yes, it is necessary to operate one screen from two others. The first is integrated into the steering wheel, the second-in the console between the seats and is located almost horizontally. In addition, the rear passengers have their own monitors – they are installed on the headrests. However, in addition to the sensors, there are several options for multimedia control, among which, for example, voice commands, gestures, a few physical buttons and the like.
The exterior of the crossover is very similar to the eponymous concept, which Byton introduced some time ago, although the exterior of the electric car and went through some simplification. Crossover deprived of cameras instead of mirrors, extravagant bumpers and hidden door handles (although they still know how to hide in the door panel). It is promised that the air resistance coefficient of M-Byte will be very low, but specific figures are not yet called.
The basic version of the crossover received one 272-horsepower engine and a 72-kilowatt battery with a 360-kilometer power reserve. But there is also a modification with a twin-engine installation with a capacity of 408 HP, all-wheel drive and the ability to drive without recharging up to 435 km.
Deliveries of the crossover of the Chinese buyers Byton is expected to begin by the middle of next year, and in Europe and North America M-Byte should appear in 2021-m. the Cost of the base variant – from 45 thousand euros.
