Bugatti tried to gracefully get out of the situation in which it found itself when it called the world record-setting Chiron "almost a production prototype." However, the prank failed: the hypercar was sent to the series, but it is not too similar to the real car-the record holder.

To the status of the record set by Bugatti, questions appeared almost immediately after the firm announced it. The specially trained Chiron was able to break the 300 mph barrier, accelerating to 490 km / h, which, in theory, makes it the fastest car on the planet. However, consider hypercar series machine is prevented by a range of improvements, which has experienced a Chiron for the record.

For example, he acquired a specially designed firm Dallara chassis, which can automatically maintain a minimum ground clearance, thoroughly revised from the point of view of aerodynamics a body with an extended 25 cm rear, different exhaust system and uprated to 1 600 HP motor, not to mention the roll cage and single racing bucket in the cabin.

However, Bugatti decided to still give a record Chiron serial status, announcing at the weekend the launch of the hypercar in production. It is planned to release 30 copies of the coupe in the Wake of the record, and each, according to the publication Motor1, estimated at a minimum of 3.5 million euros. Serial machine, named Chiron Super Sport 300+ will retain the basic improvements, including, for example, the engine and the body (yet not low chassis), and from cells in the interior will be abandoned by setting the passenger seat.


But even with this step, the company could not give the record official status. The fact that, as stated by CEO Stephan Winkelmann journalists of the edition, all serial Chiron Super Sport 300+ will receive an electronic speed limiter. It will be triggered at around 440 km / h – and this, as it is easy to see, 50 km/h less than the record of the machine.


However, according to another version, if the buyer wants, he will remove the limiter provided the installation of the safety cage. And along the way, also open access to the landfill in Era-Lessen – the same track where the record was set.
